Unfortunately, after nine years of operation, it’s time to (slowly) say goodbye to our beloved product.

In this article, I will say two things:

  • Reasons for this decision
  • What happens for the customers: right away and in the future

In short, nothing will change immediately, no need to worry. It’s not a “shutdown”, it’s a “slow sunset”. We will do everything gradually, in stages.

Why This Decision?

In short, two reasons:

  • The market has changed, so QuickAdminPanel is not profitable anymore
  • We switched priority to other content-based projects

Historically, we created this adminpanel generator in 2015 as an internal tool to build projects for our own clients quicker.

Over the years, it grew into a profitable product, with many customers generating panels for their own clients. Overall, I could consider it a business success.

However, in 2021, I pivoted my business: I switched from client work to earning money only from content courses on LaravelDaily.com and found huge success there.

Since then, in 2022, QuickAdminPanel kind of went into hiatus/autopilot mode. The team still supported and fixed bugs, but we didn’t release new features anymore.

Also, the market has changed since then: QuickAdminPanel wasn’t growing anymore.

For two main reasons:

  • Much bigger fragmentation of full-stack market with different demands (Vue/React/TALL/etc)
  • Strong competitors like Nova and then Filament

But the final “nail in the coffin” was the Laravel 11 release. The framework’s skeleton has changed so drastically that to keep up, we must recreate QuickAdminPanel almost from scratch.

So, this is where we decided to stop. In fact, I think we stopped a while ago, and now we will just make it more official.

So, What Happens Next

These are the stages we’re currently planning.

  • Now, August 2024: show a warning sign on the registration/payment pages about the sunset of the project
  • In 3-6 months: remove the payment form, stop receiving payments from customers (subscriptions are NOT renewed automatically)
  • In 12-18 months: shut down the operation

Depending on customer feedback, the second and third stages may change and move in time.

There is still a possibility of enough users wanting to use QuickAdminPanel “as is”, even without receiving new updates.

What Should You Do Now?

  1. If you want a refund for an already paid period, email me povilas@laraveldaily.com. I will refund you, no questions asked.
  2. If you’re looking for an alternative Laravel adminpanel, I recommend Filament. I also have a course about it: Filament 3 From Scratch: Practical Course
  3. If you have any questions or comments, also use the same email address above

Sigh.

So yeah, things come and go, and life happens in phases. This article marks the beginning of the end of the QuickAdminPanel phase.

It’s been an incredible journey, and thank you all for being a customer or supporter!
